Future Accommodation Model: Aldershot Pilot 2 Year Anniversary.

FAM at Aldershot: Two years on

Today marks two years since the launch of the Future Accommodation Model (FAM) pilot at Aldershot Garrison.

Since the launch, there have been 1,659 applications from Service personnel looking to choose their accommodation in the area. This is in addition to the FAM pilot sites at HMNB Clyde and RAF Wittering.

Reflecting on the milestone, Colonel Drummond, Assistant Head Personnel Services (Army), said:

“The last two years have seen the FAM pilot in Aldershot benefit our people by offering greater choice over the way they live their lives. The invaluable feedback provided by those participating will help inform and shape a new accommodation policy for all our people in the coming years.”

FAM offers Service personnel multiple accommodation options based on need rather than rank, including Single Living Accommodation and Service Family Accommodation. It also offers the opportunity to rent privately or buy your own home with financial assistance from Defence.

With more flexibility, the pilot recognises Service personnel who are single, married, in a civil partnership, long term established relationship, and parents who have their children over 80 nights per calendar year.
