COVID Bounceback Fund for the Armed Forces community!

The Trustees of the Team Army Sports Foundation, in association with Ultra Electronics Holdings plc (Ultra), are pleased to announce the creation of a COVID Bounceback fund for 2021/22. The fund has been created to help groups and communities recover from the effects of the COVID 19 pandemic.

Groups and organisations from the armed forces community are invited to submit bids to receive a grant from this special purpose fund. Specifically, the trustees wish to award grants to groups or organisations which create the opportunity to improve mental and physical wellbeing in armed forces personnel, including WIS veterans, through sport, challenge or adventure during 2021 or 2022.

WHAT EVENTS WILL QUALIFY FOR FUNDING?

Bids should be submitted for one-off events where the physical activity serves a wider, greater purpose. The activity should be challenging or adventurous and provide a highly rewarding developmental and transformative experience for those involved. For WIS veterans, the activity should help to rebuild lives by providing the inspirational goals that help them move beyond their disability, regain confidence and recapture their zest for life.

This is a rolling process and bids can be submitted to enquiries@teamarmy.org at any time throughout 2021.

UK Specific: DIO Communication Update - SFA Occupants

Annington Homes Ltd External Estate Valuations

The MOD leases the majority of its housing stock from Annington Homes Ltd (AHL). Most years, AHL survey the housing stock for accounting reasons and this year they have appointed CBRE to undertake these surveys on their behalf.

CBRE plans to start its valuations from 18 January 2021 and, as a result, SFA occupants may see surveyors on the estates

This year only external ‘drive-by’ valuations will take place and surveyors will not require access to any property, internally or externally. They may take photographs but have strict protocols in place to ensure no personal information is recorded, including vehicle registration details. All CBRE surveyors will have the necessary forms of identification.

DIO is reassuring occupants that the valuations are solely for accounting purposes and are not related to accommodation charges -which are determined independently by the Armed Forces Pay Review Body - or to SFA being identified for potential hand back to AHL. Heads of Establishment and Chain of Command have been made aware of these surveys.

GHIC Card - Healthcare for UK nationals visiting the EU

The European Health Insurance Card (EHIC) is being phased out following the Brexit deal in favour of a new, free Global Health Insurance Card (GHIC).

This information is about visiting the EU, Norway, Iceland, Liechtenstein and Switzerland. There’s different guidance for healthcare if you’re:

* going to live, study or work in the EU

When you travel to an EU country you should have either:

a European Health Insurance Card (EHIC)
a UK Global Health Insurance Card (GHIC)
travel insurance with healthcare cover

An EHIC or GHIC is not a replacement for travel insurance. Make sure you have both before you travel.
Each healthcare system is different, and in some countries you’ll need to pay to have treatment. www.gov.uk

Apply for a GHIC If you apply for a card now, you’ll get the new UK Global Health Insurance Card (GHIC) instead of a European Health Insurance Card (EHIC).

They are both valid if you’re travelling to an EU country.

If your EHIC is still in date, you do not need to apply for a new GHIC.

Apply for a GHIC for free on the NHS website.
