Keeping your children safe this Halloween

Halloween can be an exciting time of year for children, dressing up and going out after dark. But, whilst Halloween is supposed to be spooky there are some horrors that families will want to avoid.

Here are some top tips for a safe Halloween that you can remember for all the right reasons.

Reading Well for teens

A new 'Reading Well for teens' collection launched in public libraries in England and Wales on World Mental Health Day 2022.

The scheme supports the mental health and wellbeing of teenagers aged 13 to 19 years old, providing information, advice and support to help them better understand their feelings, handle difficult experiences and boost confidence in a post-pandemic context. Click the link below for details.

Service Pupil Premium

The Department for Education (DfE) provides additional funding (£310 per pupil) for State Schools, Academies and Free Schools to support Service children in England. Service Pupil Premium (SPP) is there to provide mainly pastoral support in recognition of the challenges these children may face. Service parents, if they haven’t already done so, are encouraged to inform schools of their Service status before the Autumn school census deadline (6th October 2022). Without this information schools will miss out on this additional funding.

Little Troopers - Launch of their new Therapy Programme

  • On 10th October, World Mental Health Day, Little Troopers will be opening up referrals to our new Therapy Programme.
We have seen a big increase in the number of military families contacting our charity with messages like this, worried about how military life is impacting the wellbeing of their child. The Little Troopers Therapy Programme is funded by The National Lottery Community Fund and will be delivered in England over the next two years, offering one-to-one therapy sessions for individual children, as well as group sessions delivered in the community at youth groups, cadets, scouts and other groups.  It's something we have wanted to bring to fruition for some time and it will fill the gap that exists between everyday support and crisis support already delivered through the NHS
  • You'll be able to refer via our website from 10th October.
